The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Community Orchestra and the Bethesda Little Theatre co-present their 13th Annual Handel’s “Messiah Sing-along” benefiting charities of the NIH such as the The Children's Inn at NIH; Friends of the Clinical Center, which provides emergency financial aid to NIH patients and their families; the Patient Emergency Fund and Special Love Inc./Camp Fantastic which provides a week-long summer camp and many other programs for children and young adults with cancer and their families.
The Orchestra is being conducted by Takuya Nishiwaki who recently completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Maryland School of Music and has conducted the New Haven and Hartford Symphonies. The Chorus Master Bob Johnson who has lead choruses from Okinawa to Chevy Chase, as a member of the US Navy and the National Security Agency, sang in the Washington Cathedral Choral Society for 28 years and has served as the National Chair for Community Choirs of the American Choral Directors Association.
